CDXBoot

SephiRon
Ok, folks! Here are my own personal instructions to getting the CDX to work effectively as a boot cd:
1) take an ordinary drinking straw and cut of a piece just short of 3cm long.
2) take some card type paper, (i used material from an old store-bought birthday card)cut it to the same length as the straw, and put it rolled up inside the straw.
3) cover the bottom opening of the straw with tape, then wrap a strip or 2 of tape around the straw to make it sturdier (or, alternatively, you could use a spring).
4) hold the open end of the straw to the "finger" on the playstation that is on the underside of the lid at the back (the closed detector mechanism). With your other hand push the other end of the straw onto the little button (in the tray) that the "finger" is supposed to push.

5) now, try turning the playstation on. If the cd spins, you're in good shape. Try lifting and holding the lid and see if you can make the cd stop spinning. If this also works, YOU'VE GOT THE ASSEMBLY WORK DONE!!!
6) now start up the cdx for real, with the assembly still set up. do whatever you need to do (activate codes, etc.), then select start game.
7) when it asks you to open the playstation's lid, pull up and HOLD the lid to the position you've determined the cd to stop spinning at (the cdx is already stopped however).
8) when the "open lid" part of the text disappears, swap the cdx for a REAL psx game you own (while STILL holding the lid to the "open and cd stops spinning position"). after the cd is in, let the lid go again and the cd should start spinning.
9) Now, forget what you read before on the other site I gave you;The cd speed can really be a pain to discern. Instead, let the cd spin while the screen has the "loading" message. Listen to the sounds of the TV carefully (not the motor sounds of the playstation!). When you hear a distinctive "thump" or "pop" sound, immediately swap the REAL cd for the backup cdr/import you have (it doesn't need to be the same game, besides, that would be stupid!).
10) now sit back and see if your copied/backup game loads. If it does, GOOD JOB!!!! now just push down firmly on the cd lid (with the straw still in it!!!!) to actually close the psx. This should work if you've followed my instructions on how to build the straw right. The straw will get crushed, so just take it out and mold it back into shape when you're done playing the game.
NOTE: DON'T OPEN THE LID WHEN THE GAME IS PLAYING, OTHERWISE YOU'LL RESET IT AND HAVE TO DO THE WHOLE PROCEDURE OVER AGAIN!!!

THAT'S IT!!!! Happy gaming!
